Trekking up to Everest Base Camp, for me, felt like a bit of a pilgrimage. I’ve hiked and camped since I was a kid, and the world’s highest peak had some sort of pull over my mind that eventually saw me planning a long hike around the Sagarmatha National Park in Nepal. I spent something like 33 days hiking in the area, and by the end of it my body was exhausted! The only thing that could get me motivated for a long day of hiking towards the end? Baked goods!
Delicious little bakeries have popped up in the most popular trekking hubs around EBC, but the one in Khumjung village still reigns in my memory as most delicious. The cinnamon roll, in particular, kept my mind (and feet! and back!) distracted for almost an entire day of walking down from Base Camp.
There are myriad delicious things to eat in Nepal… but after a long several weeks of hiking sometimes all it takes is a simple slice of cake or bread oozing cinnamon paste to perfectly satisfy a craving!
